Saturday Night Program at La Vista Campground

The program will be held in the meadow near camp site #16 and below the camp host’s site #19. We suggest you bring chairs or a blanket to sit on. There is limited parking near the campground entrance if you need it, or the meadow is only a short walk from most of the other camp sites. Children must please come with an adult to attend these free, fun activities. The program may be cancelled if there is rain or lightning.

7:00 p.m. August 3: Trade Trails

It is the year 1300 CE. A row of people appears on the horizon with large packs rising above their heads. What are the trade goods carried by these people and where are they going? What trails do they follow? Visit with historical interpreter Deborah Martinez Martinez, Ph.D. of El Pueblo History Museum in Pueblo, CO and learn the width and breadth of Colorado’s early trade trails. The program will include a trader pack to explore and touch, and children can participate in an activity to learn one of the important skills used by these early traders.
